Myrtle Beach Target offers adaptive clothing line for women with disabilities

Myrtle Beach is among the first cities in the nation to offer an innovative solution for women with disabilities seeking easier ways to dress.

The Target store on Seaboard Street now stocks Slick Chicks, an adaptive undergarment brand designed for women who have undergone surgeries such as mastectomies and C-sections, or who have other disabilities.

Helya Mohammadian, the CEO and founder of Slick Chicks, created the design after witnessing her sister's struggle with basic movements while recovering from an emergency C-section.

Mohammadian said that enhancing accessibility provides women with a sense of self, dignity, and independence.

"One in five people have a disability in the world, and one in three people know someone who has a disability," Mohammadian said. "I think that's a huge population of people, and it's so impactful the work that the fashion industry can do. I can't even imagine other industries making products that are accessible. It's just making little changes that can impact the life of somebody."
